ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
In New Mexico, there are five seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall and green chile.
True, the Green Chile Season overlaps with summer and fall, and for those who take the time to fill their freezers with roasted green chile, it can last all the way to next year's GCS.
Just as fresh green chiles have begun appearing in stores, with the aroma of outdoor roasting soon to follow, the 11th annual Bosque Chile Fest at ExpoNM on Saturday gave the season a great kick-off. Locals and tourists were treated to live music, dried red chile ristras, and lots of chile products and food.
And to make it even better, the peppers won praise from a man whose family lives in a nearby state whose residents are averse to recognizing superiority anywhere but in their Lone Star land.
