The dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs were highlighted at Wednesday's meeting of the Chaves County Federated Republican Women in Roswell.

Diane Taylor, the longtime prevention specialist with Chaves County DWI, and Michael Brisco, administrator of the Chaves County Detention Center (CCDC), spoke to attendees at length about the consequences of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and efforts to combat it locally.

For nearly three decades Taylor, as a prevention specialist, has worked to seek grants to sustain Chaves County DWI. Her goal is to raise awareness about the cost of impaired and distracted driving through the display of road signs featuring those who have lost their lives in alcohol-related crashes, and she advocates for changes in law to reduce its fr
