After the Roswell City Council began paving the way last week to hire an internal city auditor, they had to move quickly with an infrastructure situation that’s going to be expensive to resolve and has the potential to cause a widespread local health emergency if not remedied quickly.

City staff considered the failure of a sewage lift station serious enough to require an emergency procurement procedure. With existing design plans created to replace the equipment eventually, the city contacted four firms to provide estimates for the work. Only two submitted bids: J&H and KE&G Construction. J&H’s base quote was the lowest at nearly $2.7 million, while KE&G’s was in excess of $3 million, according to the staff report.
