A pair of local historians has made a documentary telling stories of three historically Black neighborhoods in Danville.
The feature, “A Tale of 3 North Danville Neighborhoods — Camp Grove, Crooktown and White Rock Hill,” focuses on those three sections of Danville and includes interviews with more than 30 residents who grew up in those areas.
First-time documentary filmmakers Karice Luck-Brimmer and Andrea J. Burney wrote and produced the movie, with Jonathan Parker, of Parker Productions, as videographer and editor.
In addition to being a historian, Burney was the first Black reporter to work for what was then the Danville Register. She worked at the paper from 1975 to 1979.
