CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Just days after community activists in Akron called for a ceasefire over the upcoming Labor Day weekend police responded to several shootings.

A pregnant woman was shot, and her unborn child is killed, an 18-year-old was shot, and two others were shot within minutes of each other.

Akron is no stranger to the never-ending problem of guns and violence.

In a news conference earlier this week, three community groups who work with the city, stood united, calling for a 72-hour ‘crime ceasefire’ over the Labor Day weekend.

But one man who did not share his name with 19 News said, “That’s never going to happen.”
