ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) – Community support continues to pour in exactly one month to the day from the ambush-style attack that claimed the life of a Lorain police officer and wounded two others.
On July 23, Officers Phil Wagner, Peter Gale and Brent Payne were all shot on a dead-end street in Lorain. Wagner lost his life. Gale and Payne are both still recovering.
Since then, numerous Northeast Ohioans have found ways to show their appreciation and offer a helping hand. Saturday was no different when a ‘Back The Blue” flash tattoo event was held at Distilled Ink Tattoo in Elyria.
Josh Ison is the owner. He had the idea and reached out to Jennifer Storm, who has family in law enforcement, to get him connected with the right people to hold the event and donate all profits back to the families
