OLD FORGE, Pa. — After more than a million steps, the sidewalks in Old Forge know Frank Piccotti well.
“It’s not just delivering mail here. It’s a whole lot more than that,” Piccotti said.
At just 23 years old, Piccotti slung his bag over his shoulder and hit the streets.
“I used to play mailman on the street when I was a kid, but I still never thought I was going to end up this way,” Piccotti said.
44 years later, he’s still walking the same route as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier.
“I’m so close to people I have the keys to like three people’s houses. They trust me. I watch houses. I watch pets. When people go away,” Piccotti said.
Whether it was pouring rain, a blizzard, or blistering heat, Frank never missed a step. Until this day, as he walks into retirement.
