NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Saturday, two of the surviving members of the Little Rock Nine were honored at the Arkansas Travelers game along with the relatives of other members.
“It's really a wonderful privilege to be honored at home,” Minnijean Brown-Trickey, one of the two in attendance, said.
Brown-Trickey and Elizabeth Eckford certainly were. They were recognized before the game with a standing ovation, along with two grandsons of Terrence Roberts and the nephew of Ernest Green.
“Having that kind of reception in Little Rock is unique to us,” Eckford said. “And it has special meaning to us.”
Travelers General Manager Sophie Ozier has been working on this event, known as Little Rock Nine Weekend, for almost two years.
Brown-Trickey, who flew in from her home in Vancouver, said Ozi
