After nearly three years of construction, University of Kansas football fans packed into the team’s newly renovated stadium Saturday for the Jayhawks’ home opener against Fresno State.

Fans said the upgrades to the west side and north end of the stadium, which were demolished after the 2023 season, made an immediate impression. Advertisement

“It’s beautiful. It’s beautiful. It’s a work of art. Can’t do better than that,” one fan said.

“I cannot wait to go in there and just, like, see how it is and, you know, see the football game. I cannot wait,” another added.

For some, the day carried extra significance.

“Even though I’ve grown up in Lawrence, this is my first year going to a KU game as a college student,” said KU student Larson Marcellino. “So I’m so happy to be
