OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR)— The first full week of school is in the books. While it is always exciting to get back in the classroom and see your friends again, a surge in illnesses is inevitable.
Doctors at OU Health prepare for this every year, and say there is one virus spreading quickly among kids right now.
"School's in session now, so it's time to buckle down and not only for education, but for health care," Dr. Ryan Brown, Emergency Pediatric Physician at OU Health, said.
Kids are navigating the halls to start the 2025 school year, finding where their classes are and catching up with friends they haven't seen in a while.
However, Dr. Brown says bringing everyone back after a summer away guarantees a surge in illnesses.
