Police identified a man who died and three people who were injured when a car and tractor-trailer crashed late Friday near the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27.
Investigators believe 36-year-old David Ramirez was a passenger in a car that was driving west in the 500 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road while 40-year-old Jared Armstrong was driving a tractor-trailer south in the 200 block of the I-27 access road when the vehicles collided, according to a statement from Lubbock police. The crash sent Ramirez's vehicle into a traffic light pole.
Ramirez suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Armstrong was not injured.
