EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- The Evansville NAACP chapter held its 2025 Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday.

This year's theme was "The power of unity. We are all in!"

Organizers say this reflects the strength that's built when people come together as a community.

"It's about the message that will be given. We all know that we're in some unprecedented times right now. And instead of being pushed apart, we want to bring people together, but we have to address some of the national concerns that are occurring across the nation, as well as those coming out of our statehouse," said President Edward Lander.

Saturday's event helps raise money for the organization to carry out its mission of expanding civil rights and eliminating discrimination.
