A suspect was arrested after an hours-long SWAT standoff following a deadly shooting in South Los Angeles Saturday.

Los Angeles police responded to a home near 23rd Street and Arlington Avenue in the Jefferson Park neighborhood around 1:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim lying on the ground outside with a gunshot wound. As police approached the victim, the male suspect began firing at them from inside the home.

“The officers had no choice but to retreat,” said LAPD spokesperson Bruce Borihanh. “They did attempt one more time, but being as dangerous as it is, they had to back out of that danger zone and contain the scene.” • A suspect was taken into custody after an hours-long SWAT standoff following a deadly shooting in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South Los
