Cyber criminals stole the identity of a real Gazan doctor to seek online donations from well-wishers, an investigation by The i Paper can reveal.

The scam used pictures of the medic to make desperate pleas for funding which were promoted on Instagram and TikTok, attracting thousands of supporters.

The profiles of “Dr Nabil Qudsi” showed him tending to the sick and wounded in al-Nasser hospital, southern Gaza, and encouraged donations to fundraising platform Chuffed.org and PayPal. New Feature
