The Sun Valley Fire Department hopes to begin staffing the Greenhorn Fire Station at 60% beginning Oct. 1, Fire Chief Taan Robrahn reported in recent budget meetings with the North Blaine County Fire District and the Sun Valley City Council.
Sixty percent staffing means a minimum of two firefighter/EMTs on a 24/7 basis, Robrahn stated in an email to the Express.
“The goal is to strategically distribute our personnel to help reduce response times—particularly for our mid-valley residents,” he said.
Currently, one chief officer/paramedic is stationed at the Greenhorn station during regular working hours on weekdays.
Outside those hours, Robrahn said, "Response coverage is dependent on which Greenhorn residents are home and available to respond."
