The city of Bellevue on Friday morning lifted a water boil advisory it had issued after a water valve break earlier this week led to concerns about the possible contamination of the city's drinking water.

Bellevue issued the boil advisory Wednesday afternoon after a water valve break during the replacement of a city fire hydrant caused city water pressure to drop to low levels, the Express previously reported .

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, such water pressure drops can introduce contaminants by reversing the direction of water flow, drawing non-potable water into a drinking water system. It can also allow contaminants to enter a water system through pipe joints and holes.
