The sun shined on the calm waters of Milwaukee's Humboldt Park lagoon.
But the wooden deck on the pond's western shore was anything but still.
Kids with fishing rods scurried into position. Angling instructors directed traffic, passed out bait and gave casting tips.
And within seconds of the first bobbers hitting the water, things on the outdoors stage got even busier.
"I think I have one," said Adanie Hernandez, 10, of Milwaukee, as she lifted her fishing rod.
She sure did.
Just a few feet away Christopher Valvidia, 12, of Milwaukee, did, too.
Greg and Karen Karch of Learn 2 Fish With Us , Inc. stepped to the shoulders of the kids and gave instructions.
"Keep that tip high and reel," Karen said to Valvidia. "That's it."
