The Toledo Museum of Art’s HVAC system grumbles above its visitors, where keeps temperatures just right for more than 30,000 works of art housed in the 113-year-old building.

The ailing HVAC system’s pressing need for renovation drove the timing behind TMA’s first comprehensive gallery reinstallation in over 40 years.

“There was no universe where every gallery in the Toledo Museum of Art wasn’t going to have to close by 2027 because we had to replace the HVAC for the preservation of the artwork,” said TMA director Adam Levine in an interview with The Blade.
