Dog owners are warned to look out for signs of heatstroke after a woman was left devastated following the death of her French bulldog Benny.
Emily Gilbert, 38, is now urging others to familiarise themselves with the warning signs. Her pooch collapsed after being hosed down with cold water in 30 degree heat.
She had left Benny, 3, at doggy day care while she attended a family wedding for just 24 hours. But when the mum of three collected the dog, who was previously health, he was lying limp with his tongue hanging out his mouth.
Benny was rushed to the vets where they battled to save his life but he was put to sleep after suffering two seizures.
