A rare coal tank locomotive is coming to the Great Central Railway's autumn steam gala. The vintage locomotive is a rare survivor from the late 19th century.
The GCR has revealed that the LNWR “Coal Tank” No. 1054 will be joining the line-up for its Autumn Steam Gala . The locomotive is usually based at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Built in 1888 and restored to working order through the dedication of the Bahamas Locomotive Society, No. 1054 offers a unique contrast to the larger express locomotives in the gala line-up. According to the GCR, it is a firm favourite with enthusiasts and families alike.
