A Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team was deployed in a Jefferson Park neighborhood for nearly eight hours Saturday after a suspect allegedly shot a man to death and exchanged gunfire with officers from inside a house.
Officers responded at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 2300 block of West 23rd Street, between Cimarron Street and Gramercy Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The caller told police a man was shot by the suspect and down in front of the house.
Arriving officers discovered the wounded man lying on the ground in front of the residence, police said. The unidentified man died at the scene.
