GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Two women were shot early Sunday, Aug. 24, at a car meetup in Grand Rapids, police said.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of 36th Street.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation that occurred at the car meetup. Two women were shot and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police say both women are in stable condition as the investigation into the shooting continues.

During the meetup, a car caught fire. However, police believe it was a mechanical issue.
