VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - At about 1 p.m. Saturday, the Central Lines division from Valdosta Utilities found two sanitary sewer manholes pouring into Sugar Creek, according to a Valdosta press release.

The city said in the Sunday morning press release that utilities crews were responding to a potential sewer overflow near 1212 Wainwright Drive when they found the manholes.

Other departments were consequently notified, and they determined the cause of the overflow.

“It was determined that the overflow resulted from excessive Infiltration and Inflow (I&I) causing hydraulic overload of the sanitary sewer collection system,” the city said.
