An Alabama community is mourning after two young sisters were killed in a car crash Thursday .

Lilly McCain, 18, and Libby McCain, 12, both of Centre, were fatally injured when the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek they were in was struck by a 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer.

The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office confirmed to AL.com that the two were siblings.

Community members have flooded social media with posts remembering both girls after their sudden passing.

Libby was a first-year student at Jacksonville State University and the college president, Dr. Don C. Killingsworth Jr., released a somber statement on the loss of the two “bright and beautiful young women.”
