BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Former WLOX reporters Marcia Hill and Trang Pham-Bui join Bill Snyder and Hugh Keeton to recount what it was like working at the station before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.
Hill and Pham-Bui describe the moments leading up to the storm when they realized how severe it was going to be, including telling friends in low lying areas that they needed to evacuate.
The pair rode out the storm in a home that was shaking, unsure if they’d make it out alive.
Then, in the aftermath, they had to report to work.
Pham-Bui says the hardest part for her was having to juggle her emotions and being a journalist.
For two weeks straight after following the storm, WLOX News remained on air. During the storm itself, crews had to make do in a building that was falling apart.
