There’s bound to be trouble when a thief with an alcohol addiction lives near a liquor store.
A man in court this week has been convicted of stealing booze at least 20 times. When he’s not in jail, he lives at his parents’ house close to the LCBO on Fairway Road South in Kitchener.
The man, 32, pleaded guilty Wednesday to six counts of stealing from the store. The booze was worth $595.
He was under a court order banning him from the store. In the latest thefts, he often wore a mask. On one visit, he threatened to shoot the manager.
He was convicted of 17 charges, growing his criminal record from seven pages to eight.
Thefts from the LCBO are not victimless crimes, Justice Frances Brennan told him.
“It causes increased prices and, of course, the LCBO is a provincially owned corporatio
