LAWRENCE — Kansas football watched Leroy Harris III step up Saturday in the Jayhawks’ season opener against Fresno State.

Harris, a sophomore, started at defensive end for KU with redshirt senior Dean Miller unavailable. Harris, someone who garnered praised throughout fall camp, finished with two tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack in the 31-7 win. Postgame, coach Lance Leipold noted Harris played well amid Miller’s absence.
