SMYRNA -- Campbell pulled away in the second half, downing South Forsyth 42-19 at Richard McDaniel Stadium.
The Spartans began the second half with a successful onside kick. However, the War Eagle defense forced a turnover on downs. The War Eagles then finished an eight play drive with a 35-yard field goal from Alex Santiago to pull within 21-13.
The Campbell offense responded with a seven-play drive. Stepping in for quarterback Davin Lamire who went out of the game after the previous play, Nick Buggs kept the ball on a 16-yard touchdown run to push the Spartans’ lead to 28-13.
“We work that every week in practice. I’m technically the backup so God forbid Davin goes down, you’ll see me out there,” Buggs said.
