MAYFIELD, Ky. (WSIL) -- A 14-year-old boy from Fulton, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault after a shooting at the "Battle of the Birds" high school football game on Friday night in Mayfield.

The Mayfield Police Department said the suspect shot 18-year-old Jordan Riley from Farmington, Kentucky. Riley was reported with a gunshot wound to his arm and upper torso and was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital. Police said he is currently stable.

Police said the shooting followed a physical altercation between Riley and another juvenile, during which the suspect discharged a weapon. The 14-year-old was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
