HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been arrested on nearly 80 charges after dozens of hounds were seized with the help of a community tip.
Investigators arrested Herbert Dozier of Conway on 78 charges, including 39 of felony ill-treatment of animals, after receiving a tip to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources on Thursday. That tip led Horry County Police to a property on Merritt Drive, where police found several dogs tied to trees or in improper kennels. Police seized a total of 39 hounds, which were taken to Horry County Animal Care Center for treatment.
While these dogs are not yet available for adoption, foster or rescue, police urged the public to adopt the animals currently available at the care center to help them make room.
