RIVERTON — One of Wyoming’s most famous sons, a man who fought to represent people against major corporations and the government and never lost a criminal case, passed away last Wednesday.

From hunting with his dad outside of Sheridan to fighting battles in courtrooms across America, Gerry Spence was always a Wyomingite through and through – and he wore it proudly.

His signature fringe buckskin jacket and cowboy hat reflected his Wyoming roots whether he was on his Fremont County ranch or giving commentary on the O.J. Simpson trial on CNBC.

And, explained his son and longtime partner at The Spence Law Firm Kent Spence, he always did what he did because he cared deeply about people and finding justice for them.
