Authorities have requested tips on information about the source of the La Plata Fire, which continues to burn in Chaffee County.

According to a social media post from Chaffee County, the U.S. Forest Service investigator has determined that the La Plata Fire was human-caused and started from an abandoned campfire on or around Sunday, August 17.

Anyone with information about the cause of the fire should email sm.fs.psiccpa@usda.gov with the subject line "La Plata Fire Information."

The La Plata Fire is burning in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests, five miles southwest of Twin Lakes Reservoir in northern Chaffee County. According to Chaffee County, the fire has reached 133 acres and is still at 0% containment.
