Officials at Yosemite National Park in California have announced that the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Justice Department may be pursuing administrative and even possibly criminal charges against employees and visitors who violate federal laws. The NPS shared a statement with international media confirming this just days after news went viral of an employee who was fired from Yosemite for hanging a trans flag on the famous El Capitan monolith .

The incident happened in May; however, the former Yosemite employee, Shannon Joslin, only received a termination letter last week. They made an Instagram post about the ordeal, which went viral.
