The Philadelphia Eagles have released a quarterback hours after trading for another.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who was competing this summer for the Eagles’ No. 3 quarterback job, was waived on Sunday afternoon, the franchise announced.
The news of Thomspon-Robinson being cut came shortly after the Eagles traded for Vikings backup Sam Howell . Philadelphia acquired the former Washington Commanders starter from Minnesota, as well as a sixth-round pick, in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
The Eagles needed a better option as Jalen Hurts ’ backup to start the season. Tanner McKee has a finger injury that will not require surgery, but he will miss some time.
