Authorities discovered human remains in a burned vehicle on a rural road northwest of Kamloops, British Columbia, on Saturday. The Tk'emlups Rural RCMP responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road on August 23. Upon arrival, they found a black 2019 Volkswagen Golf, which is believed to have been stolen.

The police have not released any details regarding the identity of the victim. They have initiated a suspicious death investigation and are seeking public assistance to gather more information about the incident.

Staff Sgt. Jason Smart of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit stated, "Investigators are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to the vehicle fire and death."

Authorities are particularly interested in any dashcam footage or video surveillance from the area between 3 p.m. on August 22 and 7 a.m. on August 23.
