SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Talladega man was killed after a single-vehicle crash in Shelby County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 42-year-old Jeffery D. Crandell, of Talladega, was killed after his vehicle left the roadway on U.S. 231 near Whisper Rock Road and struck a tree at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.

Authorities say Crandell was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA is continuing to investigate the crash.
