HAMSHIRE, Texas — Beginning Sept. 1, 2025, Hamshire-Fannett ISD students who qualify for reduced-price meals will now receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost, thanks to funding from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
A student's family must first complete a meal application to determine eligibility, which can be submitted through schoolcafe.com. Applications are reviewed through a confidential process to ensure student privacy.
“All other students who do not qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Meals will still be required to pay for school meals,” Hamshire-Fannett ISD officials stated on a post to social media.
The change aims to make sure more children have access to daily nutrition, helping them “learn, grow, and succeed in the classroom and beyond.”
