BUFFALO, N.Y. — Seneca Resorts and Casinos is warning consumers about fraudulent online ads promoting a mobile gaming app that uses the company’s logos and images.

Officials said the ads are circulating online, but the app is "completely fake." The Seneca Gaming Corporation does not offer any for-money gaming app, and online gambling remains illegal in New York State.

"If you see one of these ads, don’t click — it's not real," officials said.

The warning comes as scammers continue to use well-known brands to lure people into downloading apps or clicking on links that may be unsafe.
