UPDATE: At 8:04 p.m., authorities issued an "all clear" message to the USC community, saying "There is no ongoing emergency at this time; you no longer need to shelter in place. The Thomas Cooper Library building remains closed until further notice."

UPDATE: A 7:49 p.m. Carolina Alert reads "EMS is treating a couple of students with minor injuries that occurred during evacuation. There is still no evidence of an active shooter on the Columbia campus; police are continuing to search the area."

UPDATE: at 7:10 p.m., a Carolina Alert went out saying "No evident [sic] of an Active Shooter at this time. Police are searching. Please continue to shelter in place until there is an all clear."
