LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- It’s the start of a new school year at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Students and parents are making final preparations ahead of the first day of classes.
For student athletes like junior swimmer Evan Sproul, balancing classes and competitions requires planning and accountability.
“We’re getting our textbooks and stuff, and we have a lot of team meetings right now, so it’s a lot of preparation mostly for the team,” said Sproul. “We want our team GPA to be up so anything that gets us there will be great. We have tutoring and resources available so taking advantage of those most definitely.”
When he’s not on the football field, senior Waisale Muavesi is working toward his master’s degree.
“It takes a lot of discipline, a lot of effort,” said Muavesi. “It kind o
