President Nicolás Maduro announced that the reinforcement phase of the binational operation for sovereignty, peace, and absolute security has been activated in the states of Zulia, Táchira, Apure, and Amazonas.

He instructed Defense Minister Vladirmir Padrino López to coordinate with officials from the Republic of Colombia. "With the best coordination with our Colombian military and police brothers, peace, sovereignty, and security."

The head of state announced this in a video posted on his official Instagram account during a ceremony to promote the Venezuelan ambassador to Colombia, Carlos Eduardo Martínez Mendoza, to the rank of Major General. He is currently on active reserve duty within the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
