Tempe police and the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue responded to the area near Rural and Baseline roads on Sunday evening for a drowning involving a child.

Anthony Butch, the assistant chief for the Fire Medical Rescue Department, told 12News that when police responded to the scene, residents at the apartment complex reported that the family had pulled a 1-year-old boy out of the pool, and he was unresponsive. Butch said there was a pool party going on at the time.

Authorities do not know exactly how long the child was in the water.
