LAKELAND, Tenn. - A man is accused of pointing a gun at deputies during a traffic stop in Lakeland on Friday, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

66-year-old Lee Tate was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

On August 22 around 11:49 p.m., a deputy was conducting a traffic stop in the area of Canada Road and Kingsridge Drive.

According to the sheriff's office, while checking Tate's information, the deputy found two active warrants for his arrest, one for vandalism and the other for reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

More deputies arrived at the scene and asked Tate to get out of the car, but he became argumentative and refused to comply with the orders of the deputies, the sheriff's office said.
