The sight of a mysterious blue tower next to the M60 has left locals and passing motorists baffled for years.
It's been said that the giant blue advertising beacon at Denton Rock looks like a cross between a lighthouse and an air traffic control tower. Locals have speculated on ' what was really going on ' at the landmark since it was erected in the mid-2000s near Denton Island roundabout, adjacent to the M60 and M67 motorways.
Thanks to its high vantage point and the windows at the top, the idea that it might be some sort of lookout tower for police, highways, or even air traffic control has been suggested. However, this has all been speculation, with no evidence that it's anything more than a giant advertising hoarding for the roadside retail park.
