Allan Mitchell put in a valiant effort against a highly decorated opponent in Gordon Wilson but just came up short in the Northern Bowling Club Championship final when hoping to make history on two fronts.

Allan who is now 77 years-old enjoyed his previous triumph in 1998.

The Northern Ladies Championship saw Fiona Ord retain her title by overcoming the challenge of club president, Carolyn Young, 21-17.
