Deadly single-vehicle crash closes I-26 westbound near exit 218

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A deadly Monday morning crash has closed westbound lanes on I-26, police say.

The Charleston Police Department said the single-vehicle crash happened between exits 217 and 218 around 2:40 a.m.

Westbound traffic was being diverted at exit 218 and drivers were asked to use an alternate route “for the next several hours.”
