Lord Ivar Mountbatten - a first cousin once removed of Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh - recalled a time when he was planning to visit the late monarch at Balmoral.

He was due to board a flight from Bristol to Aberdeen so he could join her at her beloved Scottish spot when he was stopped.

He recalled how a 'sweet check-in lady' told him the hold was accessible from the cabin so they would not be secure.
