COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is mourning the loss of a beloved 22-year-old magpie goose.

Allen was humanely euthanized because of his struggles with arthritis in both of his legs since 2021, the zoo announced Friday.

The zoo said the keeper staff would throw Allen annual birthday parties open to zoo guests. His final birthday party was Taylor Swift-themed, inspired by her song “22.”
