TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man and his young son were found dead in Atwood Lake in what authorities called an "unusual tragedy."

The sheriff's office says the incident began around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when a woman and her three children crashed a golf cart into the lake near Atwood Marina West.

Rescuers pulled the woman from the water, and officials say she made troubling comments about speaking with God. Her 15-year-old daughter and twin 18-year-old sons were able to get out of the water on their own and were physically unharmed.

After speaking with the family, crews began searching for the woman’s 4-year-old son and her husband. Investigators say early signs pointed to possible foul play.
