Former church secretary/treasurer accused of stealing church funds

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - A former employee at a Caruthersville church was arrested in connection with a fraud investigation.

According to Caruthersville Police, 45-year-old Tiffany N. Rittenberry, a former secretary/treasurer of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, is accused of using the church’s credit cards without permission, giving herself raises not approved by the church board and giving herself unapproved payroll additions.

Police said they were contacted by the church to conduct a theft investigation on June 1, 2025.

According to court documents, church leaders told investigators on July 15, 2025, that they believed Rittenberry used the church’s credit cards to make unauthorized purchases between August 2023 and June 2025.

In an interview on July 23, investigators said Rittenberr
